If you’ve been dragging your feet because you don’t think you have the time to get started with a better charting system, now is the time.
1. Support the Midwives Alliance!
Sign up using the offer code “MANA2011″ and we’ll donate the proceeds from the first month of your new subscription to MANA. Hurry! Offer expires January 31st.
Do you have a group or conference that would like to partner with us for a fundraiser? Learn more about our Community Partners Program.
2. Help us usher in new features in the first half of 2012!
A recent article by well respected HIT (Health Information Technology) expert, John Lynn at emrandhippa.com highlights the value of getting involved with newer EHR vendors because of their responsiveness to customer feedback. We couldn’t agree more and want to thank the members of our Google Group who have supplied us with so much useful feedback we’re considering making the group our official “advisory board”. Join us on the group to read about and share in the evolution of a product just for you!
3. Start with new clients of 2012.
Starting with your 2012 clients will give you a handy way to transition into your EHR. Keep your clients who started with you in 2011 on paper and within 6 months be completely paperless. Many of our users have told us they have been happy to transition to electronic charting slowly (some even like to take a full 9 months for this baby!), using their existing paper system in their clinical encounters and getting used to the system before bringing a laptop, iPad or smartphone into their prenatals. For those of you who were waiting for fully integrated forms, we will be rolling them out in the coming months, so join now and start using the Prenatal Progress Notes and Shared Decision Making tools and be up to speed when the new features are added.
4. Make or renew your commitment to statistics collection.
Whether you are a current MANA Stats contributor or plan to be one in the future, getting set up on Private Practice will streamline the task of your data entry to MANA Stats. At the November 2011 MANA conference in Niagara Falls, MANA Division of Research member, Bruce Ackerman, announced the partnership between the DOR and Private Practice to develop automated systems for communication of between your MANA and Private Practice accounts. This means better data validation for MANA and easier (and faster!) processes for you and your colleagues.
5. Free, one on one help as you get started.
As a software company founded and operated with a midwife on the team, we know first hand that midwives are not the most tech-savvy providers on the planet. We honor the natural things in life too and feel very proud that our design keeps it simple so you don’t need a degree in computer engineering to access your charts!
We are ready to hold your hand through the process and take you through the sometimes painful transition to a new (but better!) way of managing your charts. You can do it! Just call 434-533-0338 or email info@getprivatepractice.com and we’ll set up a personal demo for your or your whole office staff. Once you get started, you can contact us with unlimited silly questions…no laughing, we promise!

I stumbled upon your blog and found the information interesting. I am a clinical midwife specialist here in Newcastle Australia. Currently our government is supporting midwives to go into private practice in theory but the truth of the matter, its almost impossible to get prescribing rights through medicare (state funded health care thats free in the public system) because of the reluctance of obstetricians to collabortate with midwives (no incentive for them). This is part of the criteria. Regards Julie
